Live Free Heady Glass Bubbler – EDiTor’s Piece of the Day 02.02.2012

Live Free are known for coming up with innovative and interesting designs for their heady pieces. This Live Free Heady Glass Bubbler is set upon orange coloured borosilicate glass with purple, green and blue switchback designs is a testament to that. This weighty piece packs a huge punch and is very pleasing on the eye.

Starting from the bowl, there is a beautiful blue and green switchback design adorned across the whole of the inside. There are two large glass horns protruding from either side of the bowl. One of the horns forms a snorkel carb and has some Orange to Purple, Blue and Green coloured glass work done to it. The other horn is a clear glass horn with orange and green spiral marble like work. Both horns are pointing upwards towards the mouthpiece.

Moving down into the deep main chamber, there are a number of different shaped purple, blue and green switchback designs that form a wonderful contrast with the orange glass background. The back of the main section houses one of the main attractions to this bubbler, a very large oval shaped clear glass marble with thick orange spiral work in the middle. Just above this towards the top of the chamber, there is a large clear glass horn with green and orange spiral work embedded inside that is similar to the smaller horn on the side of the bowl.

Going up from the main chamber, the mouthpiece is supported by a long and thin curved neck carrying orange to purple, blue and green glass work. The mouthpiece itself is disc shaped and contains a purple, blue and green swirly pattern set upon the orange background.

A very vibrant piece that shines brightly next to anything, this is another aesthetic gem from Live Free Glass.

Eric Ross and Freeek Tube – EDiTor’s Piece of the Day 01.02.2012

Our first piece of the day this month is truly a special collaboration. We love it when two heavyweights in the glass blowing world combine to form some extra spectacular. That is exactly what Eric Ross and Freeek have done here.

This Eric Ross and Freeek tube has the build of an Eric Ross 4.0 tube with the styling that Freeek brings to the table on all of his glass. Together they form this hybrid of a glass masterpiece.

Starting from the slide, there is a large heavily worked holographic marble protruding outwards from the front of the bowl. That is set upon a dark green and brown leaf shaped deep bowl with spikes (or thorns) protruding from both sides and the tip. This bowl has a 14.5mm male joint which fits into the 18.8 to 14.5 reducing showerhead diffuser. This diffuser has clear to green colour glass work on it and 7 slits for optimal smoke dispersion.

Smoke then moves into the main chamber at the bottom that contains the clearest sign of Freeek’s stamp on this waterpipe. There are thirteen different sized dark amber coloured spikes placed in perfect symmetry around the chamber curling upwards.

Moving up from the bulbous chamber, smoke is funnelled up into dome double shower headed perc. These two showerhead percolators contain 17 slits each, providing a total of 36 slits for smoke diffusion. At the top of this dome showerhead perc, there is another heavily worked holographic marble decorating the middle chamber. This chamber also has the Eric Ross 4.0 glass stamp at the centre.

Smoke them passes through the straight tube at the top with a clear to amber glass mouthpiece. Also on this clear glass tube there is a colour glass pattern embedded around to add extra aesthetic effect.

This tube done by two of the best in the borosilicate glass game, making this one of the best glass bongs out there as far as collaborations go. This is a truly special piece made by Eric Ross and Freeek.

Dave Parks Honeycomb Glass Slide – EDiTor’s Piece of the Day 30.01.2012

EDiT-nation! Introducing the beautiful Honeycomb Glass Slide by Dave Parks. These slides ooze with tasteful coloured glass and smooth moulding. A perfect addition to add a bit of class to your glass bong. This amazing glass bowl or slide is only a few inches tall, however the detail of design incorporated within these few inches is crazy.

The Honeycomb slide is exactly what it says on tin, as this piece of art glass features a glass honeycomb pattern which graces the entire length and breadth of the glass bowl. The coloured glass used is very complementary helping highlight the depth of each honeycomb.

This simple glass slide does have an additional focal point in the form of a medium sized glass horn or crest which forms from the borosilicate glass bowl.

All in all a fantastic piece of glass art from Dave Parks.

Ease Fumed Glass Dry Pipe – EDiTor’s Piece of the Day 27.01.2012

Ease makes wonderfully fumed ornate pieces that are characterised their unique colour changing skin. True appreciation of this piece comes when holding and moving it around to see the coloured glass at work. This Ease Fumed Glass Dry Pipe is a truly remarkable piece of glass art as our EDiTor’s Piece of the Day.

Ease has created this beautifully worked colour changing fumed glass dry pipe to perfection. This ornate piece sparkles upon the eye with its subtle changes of colour covering a vast array of rainbow like forms depending on what angle it is viewed due to the fuming process on the glass.

The Dry pipe contains the usual horned neckline that Ease glass pieces tend to have. The pipe is composed mainly of two large horns. The first chamber houses the bowl and is very deep due to the large horn. There is a red glass carb hole on the left side of the pipe. Also at the front of the first chamber in the centre there is a small patterned marble.

Moving onto the second horned chamber, there is a more fumed work giving incredible light to this piece. At the top of this second horn, there is a heavily worked bulbous mouthpiece that resembles a rainbow honeycomb pattern.

One of the most gorgeous parts of this piece is the large spiral marble with lens that connects both the horned chambers to finish off another masterpiece created by Ease.

Steve Gelb Mini Tube with Inline Percolator – EDiTor’s Piece of the Day 26.01.2012

Steve Gelb makes wonderfully imaginative pieces of glass in a unique style that is always branded with his ‘SG’ signature. One of the leaders of the borosilicate revolution, this piece is another aesthetic gem from the master glass blower himself.

The wonderfully ornate Steve Gelb Mini Tube with Inline Percolator starts with the heavily work bowl. This slide fits into an 18.8mm ground joint and is decorated different sized horns all the way around containing shades of red and blue. Set upon stained coloured glass there is a light green with black outlined ribbon pattern that wraps all the way around the outside of the bowl into the slide itself. This slide is very large and is a major focal point for the piece.

Smoke moves down the bowl into a straight decorated mini tube with a large disc decorated with 6 small red coloured glass horns around it and a coloured switchback design resembling a butterfly. Above the disc there is a small marble with the usual embedded ‘SG’ signature. This piece also has a brown coloured glass imprint with ‘SG’ above the marble.

After passing through the first chamber smoke moves through the incredibly made 7 slit inline perc. Smoke moves into the large cylindrical clear glass chamber before moving up another wonderfully decorate mini tube. The midsection has a beautiful purple, green, blue and black switchback design set upon a pink background. Above this design, there are three worked purple tentacles protruding upwards towards the mouthpiece.

At the top of the waterpipe, there’s a bulbous mouthpiece containing shades of purple, blue and green with 8 black beads around it.

Finally there is a wonderfully crafted clear glass crystal set upon a light blue, green and orange switchback design creating a kaleidoscope effect.

Very clever work done by Steve Gelb!

This aesthetic gem contains many shades of blue and purple that mesh together to form a fine piece of art.

The bowl has blue spirals out the exterior moving into the bowl. Smoke then moves down a thick, spirally 3 hole diffuser into the main chamber. On the front of the pipe there is a small milli marble with the patented ‘SG’ signature on it. On the back, there is a large crystal like marble

There is a snorkel carb on the left side of the bubbler containing the same bluish spiral design set upon clear borosilicate glass. On the right of the glass, there are two tentacles protruding out of the bubbler and pointing upwards.  These tentacles have solid colouring work and contain shades of blue and purple as well a slight hints of yellow and green.

At the back of the main chamber, there is a crystal-like clear glass marble set upon a red background to add affect.

EDiTor’s Piece of the Day – Worm and Bigz Warrior Tube

A truly special piece has graced our Piece of the day section today. This waterpipe is full of detail, colour and is also extremely rare due to the fact that Worm and Bigz do not collaborate anymore. In short, this might be the last of the warrior tubes.

This Worm and Bigz Warrior Tube is a sight to behold. The collaboration provides some fine colouring, design and engineering to create this hybrid glass bong. The stemless bong comes with a heavily worked pink stained to clear glass bowl with a rainbow switchback design. There are protruding purple to dark blue claws adorned around it. This includes a clear glass claw with spiralled marble work embedded inside. The bowl fits into an 18.8mm ground joint.

Smoke is passed through into the first chamber. This chamber is one of the most heavily worked chambers we have ever seen. It includes one large disc with a rainbow switchback design set upon a black background. This large disc forms the centre point and includes a beautiful large honeycomb marble at the centre of the switchback design. Protruding from the top of the disc there is a large clear glass claw with another gorgeous spiral design embedded inside. Overhanging from each side of this worked chamber there are two other (one on each side) similarly worked discs adorned with a honeycomb marble, coloured beads and clear glass claws.

Once smoke is passed through the astonishingly detailed first chamber it follows into the black 12 slit inline percolator at the bottom and up into the middle chamber, which houses a rainbow switchback designed 8 arm tree percolator that has another dazzling honeycomb marble at the top. Each arm on the percolator contains 3 slits to provide optimal smoke dispersion.

Once this fully treated smoke passes through the tree perc, it rises through the clear glass dome splashguard in the midsection, through the 3 ice pinches and up the straight tube at the top. The midsection also has a large heavily worked rainbow switchback design just below the mouthpiece. There is also a large clear glass round base signed by both Worm and Bigz at the bottom giving this piece sturdiness and security.

Worm and Bigz have really gone to work with this piece and it shows. Its radiance stands out next to any other glass waterpipe, making this a truly notable work of glass art.
