Amsterdam gear is fucking strong... That's the first thing you need to know.
I don't care if your mate 'John the dealer' says he's selling you some top am-dam white widow hybrid that his cousin's mate's brother's dog has smuggled over in it's fur... you haven't smoked good cannabis until you've sat in a coffee shop with a couple of grams of the best 'Dam has to offer.
With this in mind, Andy and myself set off on a mission to get totally wasted in the best coffee shops in Amsterdam.

We're stoners, so of course the organization for such a trip comprised of a series of text messages and missions about 2 days before the date we intended to leave.

With a minimum of effort you can get to Amsterdam on a cheap EasyJet flight, purchased off of the Internet the day before departure. It's best to plan as far ahead as possible, if only because the flights might be a bit cheaper, but if you can get your shit together, you can go from a drunken 'Lesh go to Amshterdam!' on Wednesday, to a coffee shop on Friday.

Of course, you can always choose to go over on the ferry; it takes a while longer, but it can be a fair bit cheaper.

Meeting Andy at Gatwick airport about 45 minutes before our plane was due to depart, we proceeded to juggle our luggage around so that we could fit it all in one bag each, and take it with us as hand luggage. It's a good idea if you've not got too much with you, to take it on the plane as hand luggage. This cuts out the hassle of having to retrieve your luggage from one of the many conveyer belts in the airport when you arrive. It's not a good idea however, to waste time doing this when you've got 45 minutes to check in for your flight, as the attendant kindly informed us.

Running through the airport at full pelt, we arrived at our gate with about 5 minutes to spare, and took our seats.
As it happened, our luggage juggling was time well spent, as the rest of the passengers were told row by row by our apologetic cabin crew to leave the plane and identify their luggage, due to a mix up with the baggage handling. On arriving an hour late in Amsterdam, we met some people from the flight, who were desperately seeking suitcases.

Upon arriving in Amsterdam, catch a train to central station from platform 3.
