Bongs - Smoking a bong
Bongs - Smoking a bong

If you happen to be a smoker then you will understand the basic principle involved in actually smoking and inhaling smoke. The 'mix' is on one end of a sealed pipe. In cigarette terms, the 'mix' is the tobacco and the pipe is the paper it's wrapped in. Applying a flame to the 'mix' and pulling-in the air through the 'pipe' combusts the 'mix' and draws it's smoke towards the source of the suction…YOUR MOUTH/LUNGS.

Because bongs often involve pulling the smoke into a chamber first, it's best to empty your lungs and very slowly pull the air through the bong (obviously while burning the 'mix'). If you need extra air then quickly inhale through your nostrils or the corners of your mouth, but keep the 'mix' cooking and the air pouring into the chamber. Remember; the lungful of smoke you inhale is the one that will fill your lungs. Inhale deeply and naturally. This is where a rush hole becomes useful, because it helps the chamber empty quickly, drawing cool air with the smoke. Bongs without rush holes smoke like cigarettes; drawing the smoke into your mouth, then inhaling the smoke with a lungful of fresh air.

The mix used, and it's different burning times, will effect the way you smoke. The only way to discover what might be better for you, is to experiment, voluntarily and of your own volition!
