Rusland
Coffeeshop, one of the oldest coffeeshops in Amsterdam
is entering the Cannabis Cup for the first time this
year. Rusland was established 1974. The street name,
Rusland really has nothing to do with Russia but with
the fact That this piece of land was owned by the family
Rus during the 16th century. The area was known for
left-wing politics so the owners named the coffeeshop
Rusland. And gave it a Russian theme. The entire coffeeshop
was remodeled this year creating an even more Russian
atmosphere with red walls decorated with sketches of
Russian churches. The reds, purples and golds give it
a classic as well as new age feeling. There are three
levels in this coffeeshop with nice sized seating areas.
Because it is an old established shop the clientele
is very diversified as is the staff. The Rusland works
with 9 different glass blowers and features a 5 meter
long display Case full of glass pipes. Check out the
light fixtures. These were done by Cannabis Cup®
Winner "Drum" and each one is a piece of art.
During the Cup there will be glass blowing demonstrations
and there will also be a vaporizer available for your
use.
Chose your smoke at the upstairs bar where you will
fine 9 varieties of hash and 10 varieties of grass on
the menu. Pure joints are also on the menu. The dealers
are very experienced so please do not hesitate to ask
questions about the smoke. You can also purchase seeds
form 5 different companies here. Enjoy a fresh fruit
vitamin shake, coffee or one of the 42 kinds of tea,
as you relax in this cozy atmosphere.
There
is no public transportation near Rusland, but it is
close to Dam Square. Like Blue Bird, take Dam street
behind the monument, over 2 canals and turn right on
the second canal. The red light district will be on
your left. After the next bridge, Rusland will be on
the right.
